![]() It is a very casual bar/restaurant in a little dive-y strip mall.but don't let that deter you.the food is great. We eat here often and I can't believe I have not written a review until now. Owners and family work there, and all the staff are great. In the middle of a nondescript strip mall on the Boulder Highway, you wont find it by accident. As I and others have mentioned, you have to go looking for the place. Awesome and almost made up for the lack of Beef on Weck (which i did ask 2 different servers to check and see if there was any leftover. Not sure how to describe the taste, other than to say if you have ever gotten a meatball sandwich in an Italian place, you will know that Johnny Macs is doing it right. ![]() Johnny Macs is on a large crusty roll, the meatballs are large and excellent quality meat, the marinara sauce is perfect and just the right amount of cheese. If you think Subway makes a good meatball sub, well, with respect you have never had a good one. It was the best meatball sandwich I have had in years. ![]() The highlight though was the meatball sandwich. Tried to tell us he was drinking water because it was hot outside (it was 112) but no, you aren't fooling us. It was pretty funny watching his eyeballs melt. One in our group thought he could handle them "hot". Chicken fingers - you "only" get 5, but they are huge. Four of us this visit, two order chicken fingers, one had mild wings and I had the meatball sub with onion rings. We always go on the weekend for the Beef on Weck, but this time it was a Monday afternoon, so had the chance to try out other items on their food menu. You just need some fresh mozzarella balls and a can of sliced black olives and you have a simple, fun, and scary treat for your Halloween party.I have reviewed Johnny Macs before, and we have visited 4 previous times. (And they taste amazing) For more flavors of meatballs, check this out. We love making bulk batches of meatballs and storing them in the freezer so they are just as convenient as the store-bought ones but we know just what’s in them. You can make them in minutes with frozen meatballs, or make your own homemade meatballs to use. When we got home, my dad would always pick out the candy he wanted, I mean “check the candy for safety” and we would get the rest of the haul. I loved getting candy, fruit, and pencils. My neighbors across the street always made us popcorn balls. I also loved being in a big group of my elementary school friends and walking from door to door to see what treats people had. He liked to spook all the neighborhood kids. And on Halloween, my dad would make a big window display in our big picture window and play creepy music and have a strobe light on it. That and my spectacular birthday cakes were some of my favorite childhood memories. I have never liked scary stuff, but my mom always sewed me elaborate homemade costumes. I love fun snacks that are healthy too for my family and my daycare kids! But these aren’t made with a bunch of junk food. They will love the idea of these creepy meatball eyeballs. They are a fun Halloween party snack that is not junk! But the kids will love them! Fun food for kids that is healthy too These creepy meatball eyeballs can be made with frozen meatballs or homemade.
